I am excited to share with you today my official candidacy for Mayor of Bemidji. I believe our city works best when its citizens are at their best. Our city leaders have an obligation to provide a safe, stable, and positive environment where everyone can have an opportunity to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
As a community leader and resident for the past 40 years, I can say with great confidence that our city can and MUST do better. Two of our five city wells are contaminated and the other three are in jeopardy. Our wastewater treatment plant desperately needs help. The Sanford Center deficit and annual repair costs continue to hamstring the city’s budget. Crime rates have not improved. The homeless multiply. Equally concerning, the lack of good paying jobs in our community cause many to work below their abilities, maintain multiple jobs just to make ends meet, or leave our city. All this, while we experience difficult health, safety and economic challenges created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Our community is filled with bright, talented, hardworking people who can achieve remarkable things. Together, we can overcome these problems and build a better Bemidji.
If you believe in the potential of our people, if you believe our city government can do better, if you believe that we can THRIVE and not just survive regardless of the challenges, then I ask for your support.
I am committed to building a vibrant city that allows you to be YOUR best; a city that faces its challenges with courage and keeps its promises.
