This Friday, Bemidji will experience a historic event when a sitting President visits our community for the first time in our city’s history.
Although the focus will be on the President, the national spotlight will also be on our community. While I am well aware of the conflicting views held by those who support and oppose President Trump, I am hopeful that our community can express their views in a mutually respectful way that allows our nation to see us as the talented, hardworking and diverse city we are.
There is the potential that we will see many thousands pour into Bemidji for this event. None of us can control what our neighbor does, but we do have control of our own actions. May we treat each other well, work actively to maintain peace and ultimately show our nation all the best Bemidji has to offer.
